The History and Future

Biltong has a long history in South Africa as a method to cure Meat for future consumption. Over time this has turned into a South African treat that is loved and shared by people all over the world. It’s delicious and unmistakable taste is one of the reasons it is sweeping world. Another reason for its popularity is its high protein content, making it a firm favourite for sports people.

Our name ‘Tannie’ means Aunt in Afrikaans, it is used when speaking to an older female authority figure. For generations the Auntie’s in our family have been the backbone to our Biltong production, passing our treasured recipe down for future family and friends to enjoy.  With a rise in low quality commercial biltong becoming available, we have launched ‘Tannie Biltong’ to show our friends the true taste of South African Biltong.
